Gibbo reviews the 21/22 season

It only seems like a couple of months ago that we were preparing for our first fixture in the UCL Prem against Coventry United but blink and you've missed it! 3/4 of the way through with only 9 games remaining, we're really starting to see the progression that we've made both on and off the pitch. It's taken a lot longer than I expected to get the squad in shape for next season but in the summer, we were tasked with both staying up and having the players in place to break into the top 10 next year. It looks as if we'll comfortably stay in the division and with the players that we currently have on board, and the 3 or 4 additions that we already know that we are bringing in for pre season, it's looking like we'll be in fine shape for 2022/2023.

It's been an enjoyable process and what's really been pleasing to see is how far the players have come as individuals and as a unit! We've made some fantastic signings who have all played a huge part in the progression and I have no doubt that we're building something special for the coming years.

I've set the lads a challenge to finish the season as strongly as possible so that we can take some momentum into pre-season and beyond. Next up for us is an away trip to Potton. The reverse fixture was a 7 goal thriller that we came out of unlucky losers. However, that game was the catalyst to some fantastic results starting with the win at Butlin Road and I'm hoping tomorrow will get us back to winning ways and we can then go on to have an enjoyable and successful end to the season.

We also welcome both Leicester Road and Harborough Town to Station Road in the coming weeks and both of these fixtures will give us an opportunity to see how far we've come as a group. These are the games you want to be involved in as we get towards the business end of the season, along with the local derby against Bugbooke in 2 weeks and I'd like to think we still have some wins in us to see us finish as high up the league table as possible.
